Howe hammers Hartshorne at area

DALE – Howe’s boys stayed alive in the Class 2A Area III Tournament Thursday with a 39-23 win over Hartshorne in consolation play.

The Lions play Panama 3 p.m. Friday at Seminole. The winner advances to the area consolation championship game Saturday night while the loser is eliminated.

Howe improves to 17-10 while Hartshorne finishes with a 13-14 record. Panama won its area opener Thursday with a 72-63 win over Oktaha.

Howe’s girls play Silo for an area championship and state tournament berth 6:30 p.m. Friday, also at Seminole.

After a tie game after the first quarter, Howe outscored the Miners, 10-2, in the second quarter to take a 21-13 advantage at the half. Howe sealed the win by outscoring Hartshorne 18-11 in the final half.

Kobe Wooten led Howe with 11 points.
