Heavener Council approves resolution

In a brief meeting Thursday evening, the Heavener City Council approved a new resolution, among several items on the agenda.

Present were Mayor Max Roberts and Council members Melinda Ballantine and Marvin Meredith.

The Council approved Resolution # 2022-003, concerning the return / applying of OMAG escrowed amount $19,636.79 to the worker’s compensation premium due on July 01. This is typically done annually as the City typically does not have much in worker’s compensation claims and money is refunded from the premium.

The Council also announced their support of Kansas City Southern’s proposed railroad crossing improvements. The repairs are actually in Hodgen, but has a Heavener zip code.

With the changes in the park structure, they also approved opening a new bank account for the ballpark at First National Bank.

One resident asked about keeping a pot-belly pig at her home and was told it was against the city ordinance.

The Street and Alley employees asked about new seats for the mowers and then said they could still get a good payment for the mowers with the low number of hours on each one. They will get bids and bring it back to the Council.
