Winter storm warning issued

A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service from noon Wednesday through midnight Thursday night.

A mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected. Snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible with ice accumulations of one-tenth to one quarter inch with isolated amounts of one half inch possible.

The storm is expected to hit portions of east central and southeast Oklahoma, along with northwest and west central Arkansas.

Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice, especially across portions of southeast Oklahoma. Travel conditions will rapidly deteriorate late Wednesday afternoon and become hazardous Wednesday evening through early Thursday.
