Obituary for Lawrence McHenry

Lawrence Ray McHenry, 81, of Big Cedar, was born March 4, 1940 in Delhi, Louisiana to Wiley and Ora (McCartney) McHenry, the oldest of seven, and passed away May 23, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Heavener First Baptist Church with Brother Sam Dyer officiating with Masonic Rites by the Heavener Masonic Lodge #154. Burial will be at noon in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas with military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Lawrence was a member of the Heavener First Baptist Church, Heavener Masonic Lodge #154, Heavener American Legion Post 188, IBEW Local #527 in Galveston, Texas and UAW Local #276 in Arlington, Texas. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving as an airplane navigator for the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Lawrence married Becky on Jan. 23, 1965. He was a retired certified Master Electrician for IBEW Local #527 in Texas and Oklahoma. Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, hero, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving family members are his wife, Becky McHenry, of the home; one son Steve McHenry and wife Cindy of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter Susan Holman and husband James of Burleson, Texas; three grandchildren Kris McHenry, Micah Holman and David Holman; two great-grandchildren Kinnisyn McHenry and Kyndall McHenry; four sisters Myra Berry of Conroe, Texas, Brenda Poston of Conroe, Texas, Linda Stoerner of Baytown, Texas, and Sharon Dollar and husband Scott of Kingston, Arkansas; one brother Adrain McHenry and wife Cindy of Conroe, Texas; one sister-in-law, Ruthie McHenry, of Houston, Texas; many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Ora McHenry; a brother, Yonne McHenry; and a son, Terry Lynn McHenry.
Pallbearers will be members of Heavener Masonic Lodge #154.
Viewing is from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
