OKLAHOMA CITY – Fort Cobb-Broxton ended Wister’s hopes of winning a Class A state baseball tournament Saturday with an 8-1 win at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Wister finished 28-6 while Fort Cobb-Broxton ends with a 31-2 record.
The Mustangs jumped ahead 5-0 through two innings and Wister never recovered. The Wildcats’ lone score came in the top of the six, but Fort Cobb-Broxton answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Trey Krebbs pitched the first 1.2 innings, giving up five hits and five runs (four earned) with two walks. Connar Hall threw four innings and allowed seven hits and three runs with five strikeouts and four walks. Landon Thornburg came in for the final one-third of an inning and issued a walk.
Matt Holzhammer doubled and was 1-2, Carroll, Tucker Wooten and Hall each had a hit.
