SPIRO – Meeker scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Spiro, 8-7, in a Class 3A regional Friday.
The loss eliminated Spiro with a 30-9 record. Meeker was defeated by Crossings Christian in the late game Friday. Crossings Christian won the regional to advance to the 3A state tournament.
Spiro trailed 7-5 going into the seventh inning before scoring a pair of runs in the top half of the inning to tie the score.
Meeker scored six times in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for the first time.
Dakota Perdue pitched the first 5.1 innings, giving up six hits and four runs, all unearned, with three strikeouts and three walks. Nick Johnson threw an inning and allowed three hits and four runs, two earned, with a walk before Hunter Sparks closed the game for the Bulldogs and allowed a hit and walked one batter.
Blake Dedmon had a pair of doubles and was 2-3 with two runs, Braden Riggs went 2-2 with a RBI and a run, Cory Rodgers had a 2-4 game with a RBI and a run and Brandon Hammontree doubled and went 1-3 with a RBI.
