SPIRO – Spiro went 1-1 in the Class 3A regional baseball tournament Thursday.
The Bulldogs (30-8) defeated Meeker, 12-5, in the opener before dropping the second game to Crossings Christian, 11-8.
Spiro plays Meeker at 4 p.m. Friday with the winner taking on Crossings Christian at 6:30 p.m. If the Spiro/Meeker wins the late game, an “if” game will be played Saturday at 2 p.m.
If Crossings Christian wins, the regional is over.
In the winner’s bracket finals, the Knights scored five runs and lead 11-3 before Spiro scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh before the rally ended.
Conner Rodgers tripled and was 3-3 with two runs and a RBI for the Bulldogs, Braden Riggs doubled and went 2-5 with two RBI, Blake Dedmon doubled and finished 2-4 with two RBI and two runs and Cayden Mangham had a 2-3 game.

In the opener against Meeker, Spiro trailed 5-4 before scoring six runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good. The Bulldogs added two insurance runs in the seventh.
Riggs was the winning pitcher for Spiro, going five innings and allowing six hits and five runs with eight strikeouts and two walks. Nick Johnson pitched the final two innings and gave up two hits and had two strikeouts.
Cory Rodgers was 3-4 for Spiro with two RBI and a run, Johnson homered and went 2-5 with four RBI and a run, Riggs had a double and finished 2-4 with three runs and two RBI, Hunter Sparks doubled and went 2-4 with a RBI, Conner Rodgers tripled and was 1-4 with a RBI and a run and Gannon Shackleford doubled while going 1-3 with a RBI.
