HOWE – Heavener edged Howe, 12-8, in the final regular season baseball game for both teams Tuesday.
Heavener improves to 13-21 and visits Lindsay for a 3A bi-district tournament Friday. Howe is 24-6 and hosts Chelsea in 2A bi-district play Thursday. Heavener’s game at Lindsay was pushed back from Thursday due to the heavy rains expected.
The Wolves jumped out to an 8-1 lead before Howe rallied to cut the deficit to 8-6 before Heavener scored two more in the fifth and seventh.
Noah Ward pitched two innings for the Wolves and gave up five hits and five runs, three earned, with a strikeout. Hunter Edmondson came in for three innings and allowed six hits and three runs with a strikeout before Angel Alvarez threw the final two innings and gave up two hits.
Eduardo Sanchez pitched two innings for Howe and gave up a hit, three runs, with three strikeouts and three walks. Braden Blake threw two innings and allowed four hits and five runs with a strikeout and two walks. Caleb Crabtree pitched two innings and allowed two hits and four runs with two strikeouts and two walks. Brody Sullard went the final inning and allowed a hit with one strikeout.
Ward doubled and was 2-4 with two RBI and two runs and Alvarez doubled while going 2-4 with two RBI and a run.
Kobe Wooten homered and was 3-4 with two RBI and two runs to lead Howe, Blake doubled and went 2-4 with a RBI, Wesley Bradley doubled and went 2-4 with a RBI and a run and Ky Lynn finished 2-4 with two runs.
