Whitesboro splits at Bennington

BENNINGTON – Whitesboro closed out the regular season Tuesday by splitting a pair of games at Bennington in slow pitch softball.
The Lady Bulldogs are 23-8 and play Turner 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Roff regional, weather permitting. Bennington is 27-10.
Bennington won the opener, 13-11, before Whitesboro won the finale, 9-2.
Whitesboro held a 9-8 lead going into the bottom of the seventh before Bennington took the lead with a five-run rally. The Lady Bulldogs added two runs in the top of the seventh, but could not catch up.
Kinley Barron tripled and was 2-4 with a RBI and a run, Hope Bailey doubled and went 2-4 with a RBI and a run, Maura Cole finished 2-2 with a RBI and a run, Kayleigh Walker homered while going 1-4 with two RBI and a run, Hannah Abeyta doubled while going 1-3 with two RBI and two runs and Mercedez Mortensen also doubled and went 1-3 with a RBI and a run.

Whitesboro scored seven runs in the top of the second inning in the final game and held on for the 9-2 victory.
Madi Edwards was 3-3 with two runs, Walker doubled twice and went 2-3 with three RBI and two runs, Linley Collins tripled and finished 2-2 with a run and Desarea Groan had a 2-2 game with a RBI and a run.
