WISTER – Kinley Branscum’s triple in the bottom of the eighth scored Reagan Roath with the winning run as Wister defeated Checotah, 9-8, in slow pitch softball.
Wister improves to 28-7 and plays Gore at 2:15 p.m. Thursday in a 3A regional tournament game at Calera. Checotah is 19-13.
The two teams were tied after Wister scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to force an extra inning. With one out, Roath singled to right and then was brought home by Branscum’s triple to center field.
Branscum finished 3-4 with a RBI and the triple. Kate Hammons also tripled and doubled while going 3-4 with two runs, McKenna Pierce had a 3-4 game with a RBI, Kourtney Donaho tripled and wen 2-4 with three runs and a RBI, Jaelyn Covey had a 2-4 outing with two RBI and Hope Gotes doubled and went 1-2 with a RBI and a run.
