Whitesboro rallies to down Heavener

Whitesboro overcame a 6-1 deficit by scoring the last eight runs to defeat Heavener, 9-6, as both teams prepped for postseason playoffs.

Heavener (12-21) visits Lindsay Thursday for a 3A bi-district game. Whitesboro (17-8) is hosting a Class B regional tournament and plays Smithville at 11 a.m. Thursday.

After scoring four runs in the bottom of the third, the Wolves held the 6-1 advantage. Whitesboro took the lead by scoring three runs in the top of the sixth and added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Kaden Kincannon pitched two innings, giving up four hits and three runs with a strikeout and walk. He was relieved by McKinley Thompson, who threw one inning, allowing two hits and three runs with two walks. Kadin Davis pitched the final four innings, giving up one hit with nine strikeouts.

Bryce Early got the start for Heavener and went the first four innings, giving up six hits and three runs, two earned, with three strikeouts and four walks. Jackson Clubb went the final three innings and allowed six hits and six runs, three earned, with two strikeouts and a walk.

Rhett Hunter homered and was 2-4 with four RBI and a run for the Bulldogs, Kincannon finished 2-5 with a RBI and a run and Jayse Ward had a 2-2 outing.

Trevor Grubbs led the Wolves by going 3-4 with a run, Angel Alvarez tripled and was 2-4 with two RBI and a run and Hunter Edmondson doubled and finished 1-4 with two RBI.
