Obituary for Steve Woodral

Steve Gene Woodral, 66, of Heavener, was born Feb. 28, 1955 in Modesto, California to Billy Gene and Billie Jean (Higgins) Woodral and passed away March 24, 2021 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Funeral service is 10 a.m., Saturday at the Hontubby Baptist Church with Brother Sam Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hontubby Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Steve was a longtime resident of the area and a 1973 graduate of Heavener High School.  He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army, where he served during the Vietnam era. Steve was an owner and founder of Woodral Trucking.  He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and the first member of the American Freedom Firearms Gun Range in Marshall, Texas. He was the best son, father and friend to all who knew him. He was a family man who loved his God, his family and his country.

Surviving family members are his wife, Tina Woodral, of Marshall, Texas; his mother, Billie “Jean” Higgins, of Blackfork, Arkansas; one daughter Mary Ann Maxwell and husband Neal and family of Heavener; four sons David Gene Woodral and wife Jennifer of Broken Arrow, Daniel Jay Woodral and wife Amanda of the Lovings community, William Michael Woodral and Megan Henson of Spiro, and Samuel Colt Woodral and wife Courtney of Spiro; three step-daughters Stephanee Thompson and husband Justin and family of DeBerry, Texas, Megan Beavers and husband Adam and family of Marshall, Texas, and Makayla Hines and Laney Jo of Marshall, Texas; one half-sister, Donna Jean Woodral, of Claremore; two brothers Danny Woodral and wife Shana of the Blackfork community and Robert Woodral of Stringtown; 10 grandchildren Macy Maxwell, Drew Maxwell, Hunter Woodral, Taylor Martin, Scotty Salsbury, Hattie Woodral, Braxton Woodral, Aubree Woodral, Grayson Woodral and Jaxon Woodral; one great-grandchild, Rosalynn Hunter; numerous cousins, other loved ones, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Gene Woodral.

Steve and his family are grateful to The Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas for their kindness and compassionate care.

Pallbearers are Hunter Woodral, Drew Maxwell, Billy Woodral, Dustin Roberts, Neal Maxwell and Daryl Kardokus. Honorary pallbearers are Macy Maxwell, Taylor Martin, Gary Woodral and Lily Friedl.

Viewing is from noon to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
