Howe’s girls blew out Hartshorne to win the Class 2A Area IV tournament Friday night and clinch a spot in next week’s state tournament.
The Pocola girls and Howe boys will have another shot at making state Saturday in area consolation games after the two teams lost Friday.
Howe’s girls, ranked second, improved to 22-2, with a 66-39 win over Hartshorne in the area championship game at Seminole.
Also at Seminole, Howe’s boys came up short against Pawnee, 71-59, and will play Oklahoma Christian Academy in the area consolation championship at 8 p.m. Oklahoma Christian lost in the district tournament to Porter but has won five straight games to reach the consolation championship.
Pocola’s girls kept the game close most of the night against top-ranked Dale in the area championship game at Fort Gibson before losing, 74-50.
The Lady Indians take on Fairland in the area consolation championship at 6 p.m. in Fort Gibson.
