More than 8,000 COVID-19 vaccinations have been given since Jan. 1 at the drive-through clinics held each week at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center in Poteau, according to Poteau Chamber of Commerce CEO Karen Wages.
Wages told the City Council that people have traveled from all over the state to get the shots. Currently, the shots are being given to people age 65 and older and those with underlying health issues. She said they expect to begin offering them to teachers soon.
For the second straight day, LeFlore County did not have any new coronavirus cases, according to the latest report by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. LeFlore County has had 5,257 cases, 5,094 recoveries and 43 deaths from complications due to the virus.
Active cases dropped to 120 from 126.
We have our first report from baseball and slow pitch softball in our LeFlore County sports scoreboard for today.
The nice weather will continue Tuesday with clear skies along with a high of 67 and low of 37.
Graveside service for Carolyn Ann Fanning, 73 of Bokoshe, is 10 a.m. Friday at Old Bokoshe Cemetery Pavilion with Brother Joe Perry officiating.
Service is under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
She was born Feb. 20, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Fanny Faye (Tanksley) Carrier and Ikey James Carrier and passed away March 1, 2021 in Tulsa.
In today’s events the Poteau Rotary Club meets at noon at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center.
Funeral services for James Lott Jr. of Howe are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener. Burial will follow at the Loving Cemetery.
Also, funeral service for Shirley Sebo is Wednesday at 2:24 p.m. at Mallory Funeral Home in Spiro. Burial will follow at the Old Cache Cemetery in Keota.
