By CRAIG A. HALL
Good morning and welcome to today’s blog, overwhelmingly voted the favorite blog from the 700th block of West Fifth Street in Heavener.
Today is Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021. For those of you keeping track at home, this is the 54th day of 2021, already, and there are 311 days left in the year.
I might have mentioned this before, but I have slept since then and stayed up way past my bedtime last night, but the Ledger/LCJ now has a Discord channel for all you fine folks to discuss different topics with your friends, family, neighbors and even people you don’t know.
Click this LINK and you can sign up. It is painless. You can discuss news, sports, entertainment, or whatever you choose.
I know, I shouldn’t have led you on and you are no doubt saying, “But Craig, what kept you out past your bedtime last night?”
Hey, thanks for asking. I covered Heavener’s district basketball tournament games with Idabel. The Lady Wolves won, despite Idabel having a 6-foot-5 player. The boys’ game was, well, a different story.
All the scores and updated schedule are available for your perusal HERE. Because we care and want to be seen as the top news source in LeFlore County, we also have a story on Poteau’s games at Broken Bow in 4A district tournament play.
Obviously, I was not in Broken Bow last night being as I was covering the Heavener and Idabel games. But thanks to the miracle of modern society, I was sent the scoresheets by cellular text.
Another good report on the coronavirus report Monday. Only six new cases for the county as the numbers continue to plummet. Which is good. Some things plummeting, like the stock market, aren’t good. This is.
The county commissioners declared this week as Farm Bureau week. Hopefully, next week will be Heavener Ledger/LCJ week, but don’t hold your breath.
We posted the schedule for this week’s LeFlore County livestock show for your convenience and because we want you to know, not want to know like the two goobers on the old X-Files shows.
And hey, how about that weather! Monday was nice, only around 70 degrees warmer than last Monday and Tuesday’s forecast calls for even nicer weather. Yay. Give it up with golf claps galore, peeps.
Graveside services for JC Remy of Panama are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dog Creek Cemetery.
Linda Qualls of Wister also passed away. She was born March 9, 1947 in Tulsa and passed away Feb. 18 in Pueblo, Colorado. No services are scheduled at this time.
We thank all of you for taking the time to read our morning blog. Please share, etc., and remember to subscribe to the Ledger/LCJ. We have plans to meet everybody’s needs and need to grow out subscriber list since advertisers are dropping like flies.
If you are your business do want to advertise, we can hook you up with newspaper and digital advertising. A few of the possibilities for digital that will give you a lot of looks are by sponsoring subjects such as weather, the calendar, sports scoreboard and a whole lot more.
If you are interested or want more info (which is short for information), email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Ledger hot line at (918) 653-2425.
May you and yours have a most blessed day with pleasant thoughts shared with everybody you encounter, or at least the publisher/editor/paper boy of the Heavener Ledger/LCJ if we happen to cross paths.
