Thank you for reading this morning’s highly anticipated blog.
Today is Feb. 22, 2021. Serious. This is the 53rd day of 2021 with 312 left in the year.
First off, we invite all of our fine readers to Join us on the Ledger/LCJ channel on Discord to discuss information important to you.
While the weather has been improving for several days, today should be excellent. Seriously. Clear skies, a high of 62 and a low of 38. What was it, a week ago when the temperatures were in the negative?
Gotta love that Oklahoma weather.
The basketball playoffs resume and start for some county teams Monday. Howe, Panama and Pocola get going Tuesday.
We will cover Heavener’s home games with Idabel tonight. Sorry, no livestream as the OSSAA says “ney” on the streaming unless they are paid $100 smackers. So we’re going old school tonight, simply covering the game, taking pictures and notes, and posting updates.
The LeFlore County commissioners meet today at 9 a.m. with a bloated agenda thanks to last week’s meeting getting postponed.
Knock on the proverbial slab of wood, but coronavirus cases continue to drop. We only had five new cases in Sunday’s report. Hopefully this continues to improve and Trish the Wife will not continue telling me I need to take the vaccine as soon as it is available for 57-year-old males with no physical deformities aside from looks.
Also, active cases are down to 124. Only a few weeks ago, there were over 300 active cases so this is another sign we are headed in the right direction. Eh?
While it is still early and nobody has planned yet, I guess, you and your family can get a good lunch and support a good cause Sunday by attending the Poteau Dugout Club spaghetti dinner. Only $5 smackers per person or $20 for a family.
Holly Braziel of Grove, a former resident of Bates, passed away Feb. 20 and was born July 22, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. No service is scheduled at this time.
