Good morning, this is the morning blog for 2-16-2021.

Today is Feb. 16, the 47th day of 2021. There are 318 days left in the year.

This weather is ridiculous. According to, when I woke up this morning, the temperature was -8 degrees. Monday’s high temperature was less than the previous record-low for the date.

If I wanted to live in Minnesota, I would do so. Instead, Minnesota-type weather has come to LeFlore County. Boo. Hiss.

And while the temperatures are expected to warm slightly, some three to eight inches of snow (depending on who you listen to) is expected for Tuesday night. The temperature is forecast to have a high of 24 for Tuesday, which isn’t good but beats the dog poo out of a high in the single-digits. Eh?

The basketball district and regional tournaments scheduled for later this week are going to be a mess as games will likely be delayed.

There was only one coronavirus case reported in LeFlore County Monday. The number is probably skewed a bit due to the weather, but it was nice to see.

The scheduled basketball game between Muldrow and Howe has been called off. Pocola is scheduled to play at Vian tonight, but I doubt it will be played.

Funeral service for Nora Curd of Poteau is at 10 a.m. at New Beginning Family Ministry in Poteau. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery in Spiro.

Funeral services for former Heavener police officer Lester Engish are today at 2 p.m. at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with David Hope officiating. Burial is also at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro.

Anybody wanting to coach in the summer leagues at Heavener should attend a meeting at 6 p.m. in Heavener’s City Hall.

The Poteau Evening Lions Club is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. at CASC.
