Howe, Panama clinch championship bids

The championship games for the 89th annual LeFlore County Tournament will be held Saturday.

Both games are at Howe, featuring the top two seeds. The boys play at 4 p.m. with Howe hosting Panama. The girls’ championship is at 7 p.m. with Howe hosting Pocola.

The third-place games are at Heavener. In the girls’ game, Heavener plays Whitesboro at 1:30 p.m. while Spiro’s boys go against Whitesboro at 3 p.m.

The boys’ semifinals were held Friday with Howe breaking away late to win 59-46 over Spiro and Panama outscored Whitesboro, 75-69.

LeFlore and Poteau split the fifth-place games. LeFlore’s girls won, 41-34, while the Pirates won, 59-49.
