The top four seeds in both brackets of the LeFlore County Tournament won Tuesday to advance to the semifinals.
But it was a struggle for some teams. The third-seeded Heavener girls had to hold on until the end to edge sixth-seeded Poteau, 52-49, and the fourth-seeded Spiro boys squeaked past fifth-seeded Poteau, 49-48.
In other scores for the girls Howe handled Wister, 81-25, Pocola outscored Spiro, 56-32, and Whitesboro advanced with a 43-32 victory. In a loser’s bracket game, Arkoma’s girls stayed alive with a 43-8 win over Bokoshe.
For the boys, Whitesboro sent defending champion Talihina into the consolation round with a 69-65 victor, Panama outscored LeFlore, 80-55 and Howe ran past Wister, 82-36.
In the consolation round, Cameron defeated Bokoshe, 57-54.
