Howe teams Pocola girls win openers

TALIHINA – Both Howe teams and the Pocola girls won their opening games in the 2020 Choctaw Nation Invitational Tournament here Thursday.

Howe’s boys won big over Poteau, 63-39, the Lady Lions defeated Hugo, 65-62, while Pocola’s girls were too much for Poteau, 56-40.

Howe’s boys play Broken Bow in a semifinal at 5:40 p.m. Howe’s girls and Pocola will meet at 4:20 p.m., a possible preview of next month’s LeFlore County Tournament championship as Howe is seeded first and Pocola second.

Talihina’s boys were defeated by Roland, 51-40.

In loser’s bracket games Friday the Poteau girls play Hugo at 11, Poteau’s boys battle Rattan at 12:20 an Talihina and Pocola play at 3 p.m.
