Early in the second quarter of Thursday night’s District 2A-5 game between Heavener and Vian, the top-ranked Wolverines had run only one offensive play.
Normally, that would be good news for Heavener. It wasn’t for the Wolves. Vian led 27-0 and the Wolverines’ offense had only one play, a 39-yard touchdown from Diego Ramos to Damien Page.
But the visitors held a 27-0 lead with a 10-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Xavin Lackey on Heavener’s third play, plus 60 and 63-yard punt returns for scores by Page.
The Wolverines barely broke a sweat in closing out the regular season with a 47-0 win at Harvey Stadium.
