KTC taking safety measures after case of COVID-19

POTEAU – Kiamichi Tech school officials were notified Monday that a student at the Poteau Campus tested positive for COVID-19.

The student was last on campus Friday.

All students and staff in close contact with the individual have been notified and advised to quarantine. Students in the program affected will transition to a distance learning format until Oct. 5.

“Our team continues to work diligently to ensure all safety protocol and procedures are being followed,” said Shelley Free, Kiamichi Tech Superintendent. “As soon as a confirmed case is reported, we are able to quickly notify the individuals affected and mitigate any exposure to others on campus.”

School officials are working closely with the LeFlore County Health Department. Any individuals who would like to be tested for COVID-19 or have symptoms should contact the LCHD for a testing appointment.
