11th county resident dies from coronavirus

According to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, a Talihina man became the 11th county resident to die from coronavirus, in the latest report Wednesday.

The man was in the 65-and-older category. No names of the deceased are released. He was the third Talihina resident to pass away from the virus, although the two previous residents are believed to have a Talihina residence, but lived in other counties.

The county has 20 new cases Wednesday after having 41 Tuesday. Poteau had nine new cases, Wister had four, Heavener, Howe and Talihina each had two, and Shady Point had one.

The county has 170 active cases, up 1.04 percent from Tuesday. LeFlore County has had 830 cases with 649 recoveries.

Spiro currently has 53 active cases while Heavener has 38 and Poteau 34.
