The area averages 5.30 inches of rain for September.
It’s only Sept. 2 and that amount has already been topped after a whopping 5.60 inches of rain was received Monday with more of the wet stuff expected for Wednesday. The total for the last seven days has been 7.39 inches.
Areas have seen flooding and there have been rescues from high water along with a mobile home being washed away near Cameron. A flash flood watch is in effect through Thursday and a river flood warning is in effect for the Poteau River near Panama.
Wednesday’s high is expected to be 79 degrees with a low of 69 degrees.
