Obituary for Evelyn Drury

HEAVENER – Evelyn Delene Drury, 77, of Heavener, was born April 24, 1943 in Howe to Lester and Betty (Berry) Earls and passed away Aug. 26, 2020 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Private family service is Monday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Andre Ming and Rev. Josh Drury officiating.

Burial will follow in the Howe Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.

Evelyn was a life-long resident of the area, a member of the Howe First Assembly of God, and a retired middle school teacher, where she taught for many years at Pansy Kid Middle School in Poteau. Evelyn was full of life and loved to laugh. She also loved to spend time with her family, collect antiques, especially old milk glasses, travel to Branson, and drink her Diet Coke. Evelyn will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving family members are two sons Ed Drury of Heavener, and Tony Drury and wife Tina of Wister; three sisters Linda Mattox of Monroe, Carolyn Cagle and husband Bob of Howe, and Patsy Walker of Poteau; seven grandchildren Ryan Leatherwood, Josh Drury, Shawn Drury, Jessica Drury, Cody Drury, Tyler Phillips and Cassidy Phillips; six great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Helen Earls; and two brothers Lee Earls and Bill Earls.

Pallbearers are family members.

Viewing is Saturday and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m., with the family visiting with friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
